The spell of beauty

To be available to the spell (of beauty) is very easy. All you need to do is calm down and look around. To be imperious to the spell requires a far greater effort—plus it cost more in lost quality of life. Terry Theise

So today, pause. . .and if someone asks what you are doing, tell them, “I’m practicing.”
“Practicing what?”
“Being available to the spell of beauty.”

Spent the morning. . .looking for beauty in the ordinary. . .found it in my winter garden. . .Check out the photos — Magic in a Winter Garden.

Here’s the deal: In order to see, we must let go of our prejudice that only that which is big or ecstatic or notable or weighty or positive or new and improved is of value.  In the middle of a transition, when our emotions feel alien, our dreams seem small or non-existent, our outlook uncertain, our esteem on a roller coaster, we need to be reminded that it is precisely there. . .in the particularity of the ordinary, the simple, the accidental, the shadow-side, the uncertain, the unlucky, and the small. . .that life can be embraced.

The best place to seek God is in a garden.  You can dig for him there. George Bernard Shaw
