We Need To Stop First

>

I spent time in Chicago with the people at the PBS program 30 Good Minutes (csec.org). (The show will be aired November 16, and the video will be posted to my site, terryhershey.com and to Facebook.) Although I told them that if they wanted their show to mirror real life–at least the real life I know–they could be matter-of-fact and call it “15 Good Minutes, and 15 Minutes of Irritation.” Which are still pretty good odds. I talked with Daniel and Lydia in studio about my book The Power of Pause. And Daniel told me about his young son Luke, and his first day of school. Before they entered the school, Luke sees a ceramic pot with a flowering plant, and he tells his dad, “Before we go into school, we need to stop first and smell the flowers.” Smart kid. I hope he never loses that.
